Privacy Policy
This page explains what information this website collects and how it is used. This site is a personal design portfolio belonging to Naomi Schaefer. It is not a store, it does not require an account, and it does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Analytics
This site uses Umami Cloud, a cookieless analytics service, to understand in aggregate how the site is used, such as which sections and projects are viewed most. It is used only to improve the site, not for advertising or to build profiles of individual visitors.
When a page loads, Umami receives standard browser information: the page address, the site you came from, your browser language, screen size, and browser, operating system and device type. Your approximate location (such as country or region) is worked out from your IP address; Umami states that IP addresses are not stored.
The site also sends a few simple interaction events, such as which trading cards, posters, and projects are viewed or opened (including whether a project was kept open for at least 10 seconds while the browser tab was visible), when you move between projects, and when you click a link, open the contact panel, or successfully send a message. These events describe what was viewed or clicked; they do not include anything you type, and no names, email addresses, or message contents are sent to analytics.
See Umami's Privacy Policy for how they handle data. The site works the same if analytics is blocked.
Contact form
The Contact section includes a message form. When you submit it, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent to Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, which forwards them to me by email so I can reply to you. A hidden field in the form is used to filter out automated spam. Formspree may keep a copy of submissions for a period under its own policy; see Formspree's Privacy Policy.
I use what you send only to respond to you and keep it only as long as needed for that and for my own records. You can ask me to delete information you submitted through the contact form, and I will remove the copies under my control, subject to any records I am required to keep. I can't control copies kept independently by Formspree or by email providers, which follow their own retention practices.
Cookies & browser storage
This website does not use cookies for analytics or advertising, and Umami does not use cookies. Third-party services the site relies on (listed below) handle technical data under their own policies, and your browser may use standard mechanisms such as caching to load pages efficiently.
If you would rather not be counted in analytics, you can visit naomischaefer.com/?notrack. This saves a small preference in your browser's local storage on this site, which tells analytics to stay off. It contains no personal information. Visit ?notrack=off or clear this site's data to undo it.
Hosting & fonts
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may automatically log basic technical information for each visit, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability. See GitHub's Privacy Statement. The site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which sends a request from your browser to Google's servers that may log technical information such as your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Third-party services and links
Aside from GitHub Pages (hosting), Google Fonts (typefaces), Umami Cloud (analytics), and Formspree (contact form), this site does not integrate any third-party services, embeds, or advertising networks. Links to other websites, such as LinkedIn, are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
Children's privacy
This site is a professional portfolio and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example if a new service is added. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
